Gellio is a music player for your own Jellyfin server. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: Fork Bomb collects nothing. Gellio talks only to the Jellyfin server you connect it to, and everything else stays on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Gellio has no accounts with us, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party SDKs. We do not run any servers that the app talks to, and we never receive your data.
Your Jellyfin server
When you sign in, Gellio connects to the server address you enter. Your username and password are sent only to that server to sign you in. With Quick Connect, no password is entered: Gellio shows a one-time code from your server, and you approve it from another signed-in device. The password itself is never saved by the app.
While you use Gellio, it sends requests to your server to browse your library, stream and download music, load artwork and lyrics, search, and manage favorites and playlists. Your server can see these requests, including which songs you play, in the same way any Jellyfin app does. Each request includes a random device ID that Gellio creates for itself, the app name and the app version, so your server can tell this device apart from others. That server is run by you or by whoever gave you access to it, and their own policies apply to it. Fork Bomb has no access to it.
What is stored on your device
- Sign-in token and device ID: kept in the iOS Keychain.
- Server details: your server’s address and name, your user ID and name on that server, and your music library ID, kept in the app’s settings storage.
- Listening history: play counts, skips, listening time and when each song was last played, used only for the recommendations on the Home screen. It is never sent anywhere.
- Play queue: what was playing and where you were, so playback can resume after a relaunch.
- Downloads: music files you choose to download, so you can listen offline.
- Caches: artwork and recommendations, to make the app faster.
- Settings: skip intervals, library layout and similar preferences.
Downloads and the saved play queue are excluded from iCloud and device backups. Your settings, server details and listening history are part of your normal device backup, like other apps’ data.
Signing out removes your sign-in token, server details, listening history, the saved queue and cached recommendations from the device. Your downloads, cached artwork and the device ID are kept, so you can listen offline or sign in again. iOS may clear cached artwork on its own when storage runs low. If your server ends your session, for example because your password changed, Gellio keeps your listening history so you can pick up where you left off. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device. Items in the Keychain may remain until the device is erased, as is normal on iOS.
Other connections and sharing
- Learn more link: the sign-in screen has a “Learn more” link to Jellyfin’s networking documentation (jellyfin.org). It opens only if you tap it.
- Sharing: if you use Share on a song, album or artist, Gellio passes the name to the iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes.
- System features: to show what’s playing on the Lock Screen, in Control Center and in CarPlay, Gellio gives the song title, artist, album and artwork to iOS. AirPlay sends audio to the device you pick.
- Local network: iOS asks for Local Network access so Gellio can reach a server on your home network. It is used only to connect to the server you enter.
Children
Gellio does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
